Spring Break 2009-Orange Beach, Alabama Day 1

Our family plus Jeff's brother Joe went to Orange Beach for a few days (long weekend) during the boys "spring break" this year. For the first time ever for us, the weather did not cooperate. They predicted rain for the entire time we were there, but we made the most of it and on Saturday, the sun came out about mid-morning and we were able to spend some time on the beach.

We arrived there Thursday afternoon and though it was very cloudy, it wasn't raining at the time so the boys quickly changed clothes and we headed to the beach for about an hour. You can tell by these pictures what the sky looked like. We had fun though!

We stayed at "Sleep Inn" right on the beach!

This picture was taken from our balcony (with a zoom lens). The water was very choppy!Stormy clouds!

When we first went to the beach on Thursday, the smell was terrible! Very fishy! I was not impressed at all. Then we realized why. Because of the weather lots of these little guys had washed up on the beach. They were everywhere! I had never seen any like this before, but
we are pretty sure they were some type of jelly fish.
These are very friendly fellows. Here they are wading in a little tide pool.
We ate lunch on the beach Saturday and they nearly flogged me wanting my food! Scary!

The beach was quite active that day with "sea life". You had to watch where you stepped!

Like most kids, Jacob loves to build sand castlesJorden and Taylor with Uncle Joe
Jorden and Taylor on the balcony next door (Joe's room). It wasn't much, but we had a pretty good view of the ocean.
More storm clouds coming in...
My next post will be about Friday...we went to Mobile and had a blast!
