Spring Break (again)

We had so much fun playing games each night. I loved the times we played Mexican Train and Chicken Foot. But the guys also enjoyed playing Catian, Monopoly Deal, and Risk. I enjoyed reading my book during those games. :o)

Atop Kennesaw Mountain

One day we drove down nearly to Atlanta, to Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield. This is the site of a Civil War Battle. Jeff and Joe's great, great, Grandpa Kelckler fought at this site. It was pretty cool thinking about that as we hiked and viewed the various sites.

War monument for Iowa

Site of an unknown solider (Yankee) It was very moving to see all the different things people had placed on the grave.
Another day we drove down the road just a short piece to hike a little on the Appalachian Trail. This is always a neat place to go. There are lots of people who hike this part of the AT. They will have vans from town waiting to pick them up after hiking for several days. We went up a couple of miles. It is pretty rugged and steep, but beautiful. There are signs (we didn't see till AFTERWARD) warning you about bears. I am terrified of running into a bear on the trail. Thankfully, there weren't any out, or maybe we scared them off with all the noise we made. Ha!

Stopping to read a note hanging in a tree, from another hiker.

You can see it is pretty steep right here. Your legs get a good workout!

A close up of the stream and little water fall.

It's hard to tell in this picture, but this is a little campsite previous "over-nighters" used a little ways off the trail

Resting at the top of one of the mountains.

Another campsite off the trail

Unfortunately Pop Pop was not there to tell me the names of all the wildflowers that we saw.

Good times! Great Memories!
