Jeff, the boys and I met up with my nephew, Timmy and my brother-in-law, Joe this past Tuesday evening in Franklin, TN. We spent Tuesday night there, then Wednesday morning we went over to the Carter House where a fierce battle (called the “bloodiest battle) of the Civil War took place in the Carter family’s front yard. It was a most interesting place to visit! We learned a lot of history there and really enjoyed ourselves. The main reason we went was because Jeff and Joe’s great, great grandfather Kleckner fought in the 104th infantry in that town during that battle. Joe has done a lot of research on this and knows a lot about it. Here are some pictures we took.
Slave cabin that was not original to the farm although they did have slaves that lived there at one time. This cabin was moved there by the government.
Loved this old building. It was the kitchen the family used to cook in. (Not connected to the house)
This was Mr. Carter's office. He was a wealthy farmer at one time.
Lisa, played around with the camera….
Jeff, played around with the camera…
What is down this well you reckon?
I thought these turned out neat…
Taylor caught in the act of throwing walnuts…
This sign talks about the 104th infantry that Grand Pa Kleckner was in…neat huh?
If you ever get up to Franklin, and enjoy history, stop by the Carter house. I think you would enjoy it.
