Last night our Jr/Sr. High kids at our school the Bible Methodist Christian School performed the Shakespeare drama “A Midsummer Night’s Dream. All of the kids in 7-12 grades had to take part. They either had a part in the play or worked behind the scenes doing lights, sound, costumes, ect…
Jorden played “Puck” –a mischievous green elf. He did a great job! We were so proud of him. Not sure where he gets his acting abilities, but he loves it and does a great job with it. (Neither Jeff nor I enjoy it or are we good at it.)
Here are some pictures from the play. We were not allowed to take flash photography, so they are not the greatest pictures, but I think you will get the idea. (By the way, our school is selling copies of the play on DVD for $5.00 each.)
I want to congratulate all the kids that worked either behind the scenes or in the play itself. They did a spectacular job!! They started practice last Thursday and 9 days later put the play on. Wow!! It was very impressive!
Now keep in mind, I don’t know my Shakespeare very well, nor do I know all their “acting names”. But I think I got the jest of the play. Bear with me….Jorden will probably not be pleased with my rendition of it but here goes….
Entering into the Agan Tabernacle, now part of the “…dream”
Two young ladies, sweetly playing a game of checkers, who knew they would fight like cats later on???
In the King and Queen’s throne room
“I pledge my love to thee” or something along those lines…
In the King and Queen’s court
If you look close, I think that is Jorden in the green and black.
He had a twin who also played “Puck”. Sometimes it was hard to tell which was which. (which was the whole idea)
A lover’s quarrel.
“Puck” (Jorden) is listening in on this conversation. He played lots of tricks in this scene. He is sitting on the steps with his back to us. This was the first time he came out and I wasn’t sure it was him till he started talking. Ha!
A fairy, playing in the “throne” room.
“Puck” and a fairy.
Puck is listening to the “head” fairies talk. The little boy is Daniel in my Kindergarten class. He was so cute!!
Another “lovers spat”
Puck is getting instructions on how to give the “love juice” from the flower.
The fairies sing the head fairy to sleep.
Planning their “play within the play”
Puck turned this guy into a “donkey”
The queen fairy thinks she is in love with this donkey
The king fairy putting love drops on this poor fellow
The beginning of the cat fight…
The cat fight gets more serious.
Everyone has fallen asleep in the forest
The queen fairy pledging her love to the donkey.
The king is out hunting… sorry it’s blurry!
Back in the throne room, this time for a wedding and a play.
At the wedding
The 1st-6th grade girls were fairies. They were all so pretty!
The fairies attending the weddings…
The “play within the play” (This was quite hysterical!!)
Here John is playing a “girl” checking to see if her true love is really dead. This was one of the funniest parts of the play.
Both of them are “dead”…but not really
The king and queen fairy are back together again….
Mr Partin-the man behind this production!! We so appreciate his coming to our school and working with our kids. He did a great job!
Skyler (sound guy), Andrew & Alissa (King and Queen)
Me and Jorden (Puck)
Puck without his wig…
Me and Puck again…
The two Pucks (Erin and Jorden)
Puck trying to get his wig back on straight.
Puck (I think his wig was a little crooked here! ha!) He’s still smiling though!
Alicia and Jessica really are great friends…
Jorden had to jump onto this “rock” during the play. We were so glad he didn’t slip off…He did a great job!
We were thrilled with the crowd that came out too. It snowed again tonight. But that didn’t keep people from coming. (Remember, we were supposed to have had this last Friday night, but got snowed out… this time it wasn’t near as much. Just very cold!!!)
I Praise God for His blessings on our school!
