New Year Resolutions...

How did you do on your New Year's Resolutions last year? Ewwww, bad question I know. I can't even remember what most of mine were, but one sticks out because it was a competition between Jeff and I. He challenged me to read "non-fiction" books last year-due to the fact I usually avoid them and I think he wanted to improve his wife's reading habits. I happen to love Christian romance, historical and mystery books. Sorry. Anyway, he felt he could read 24 in a year's time (he also like to read fiction so that sounded like a lot to him). I thought there was no way I could do that but took him up on the challenge.

The outcome you ask? I read 34 and Jeff read 16. (I think that is the first time I have beat him in anything! :-) ) Some of those were books of the Bible, but we agreed up front that they would count-they are non- fiction you know, so why not count them?

The last two books I read, I read each in one day. I really didn't plan to do it, but I had wanted to read both of these books and once I started I couldn't stop. The first you will laugh because it has been out about 30 years or so, but I just never took the time to read it. However, I LOVED it. The name of the book is "Joni" by Joni Earkeson Todi. She is so inspiring. If you like me have never actually read her story (we all know who she is and what happened to her, but this book gives all the detail) I recommend you read it. It really makes you think! The other book is similar in that it deals with tragedy in two young girls lives. It is called "Mistaken Identity" written by the girls families the Van Ryn's and the Cerkak's. This story also gripped me. It has been out at least a year maybe longer since the accident it tells about happened in 2006. Anyway, I recommend both of those books.

I thank Jeff for the challenge and yes, we are once again going to attempt it. I really enjoyed the books I read last year and am looking forward to a bunch of new ones this year.

Good thoughts. I don't ever do too well with New Year resolutions so I don't usually make them, per se. But I do set "goals" where I try to do better at certain things. I guess it's psychological because it works for me better than resolutions! Congratulations on beating Jeff!

I totally agree Jamie. I like "goals" better also and do a lot better with them.
